Guide: During the Digital Learning Experience
Proceeding through the Digital Shop Inspection
- When Students begin the digital learning experience, they will see a list of the shop
areas/parts that they need to look at, like Figure 1, which includes advice on what to
look for, including hazards, bench grinder, rear wall, hose cabinet, parts washer, tool
area, overhead door, floor jack.
- Selecting “Begin” starts the shop inspection in which the student is taken directly to
different areas of the shop to complete the inspection tasks as prompted.
- Individual inspection tasks will be prompted at the bottom of the screen, and the
student must do as requested. It is not possible to proceed from the current task
until that task is completed. Zooming in is possible using the slider in the lower right
corner or the mouse's roller wheel.
- For some parts, an Inspection Checklist comes up, and students must select from a
dropdown list and choose the condition of the item in question. They will press
Continue to proceed to the next inspection.
- The Inspection Checklist is available to select at any time from the bottom left
menu as the student moves through the inspection, and it can help show the next
steps if the student is stuck.
- Students can also pull up the Tasks list from the menu on the bottom left of the
screen, (hovering says Tasks). If at any time, students need some help regarding
what to do, they can select the Tasks list and select a task to see the advised
action.
- When completing or exiting the virtual shop area inspection, students will receive a
feedback page indicating what was inspected accurately, and what, if any, areas
they missed or made mistakes on.
- When they select “Complete,” they’ll be able to exit the virtual learning experience.
