Guide: During the Digital Learning Experience:
- When learners begin the simulation, they can select the Guided Inspection,
Advanced Inspection mode to inspect the truck and trailer, or they can select
Flatbed or Refrigerated Trailer inspections.
- Learners will find the Tutorial helpful in navigating digital learning. It is found at
the bottom left of the screen, and hovering says it’s the tutorial. Students who are very
new to Trucking are especially advised to watch the tutorial, particularly the Truck
Overview and Inspection Walkthrough.
The Tutorial provides information on:
1. How to Play digital learning: including How to follow the prompts, How to get
a better look, How to report a problem, and the Learning objectives and grades.
2. Truck Overview for those learners who are very new to trucking
3. An Inspection Walkthrough that gives learners mini videos showing inspection
examples in and around the truck including: Fluid leaks; Cab, body and windows;
Engine cold check; Cab interior cold check; Cab exterior, fuel and DEF; Rear cab; Tires
and rims; Brakes and suspension; Trailer side; Rear Trailer; Cab front; Engine warm
check; Cab interior warm check.
4. If at any time, learners need some help in the simulation, they can select the
tutorial.
Inspection Modes:
Students may choose any of the four inspections modes including Guided Inspection, Advanced Inspection, Flatbed Trailer Inspection or Refrigerated Trailer inspection.
- Guided Inspection Mode: Students may choose this mode first, but can select any
of the four inspections. They will be guided step-by-step through the pre-trip
inspection, receiving prompts, rationale, and immediate feedback at each step of the
inspection. It is not possible to proceed from the current step until that step is
completed successfully.
- Advanced Inspection Mode: The learner can choose Advanced mode from the
main menu. They will then conduct the inspection without prompts, in any order, and
feedback will be provided on demand or at the end of the inspection, instead of after
each step.
- Flatbed Trailer and Refrigerated Trailer Inspection modes function similarly to
the Guided Inspection mode, where students are taken to different parts of the trailer
to perform the inspection.
